In February you can begin to bring your garden back to life after the ravages of winter.
Winter and spring bedding plants need to be dead-headed.
In spells of milder weather check over all your borders for evidence of new weed growth and remove them.
Lightly fork over the soil to eliminate that tired winter appearance and provide a pristine background for spring plants.
Complete the pruning of fruit trees and continue planting in suitable conditions, roses can be pruned towards the end of the month.
Weather permitting, prepare the ground for spring planting, remember to place protective covering over soil in areas where you are going to plant or sow seeds. This will assist in the warming up of the earth so that sowing can take place earlier.
Again, weather permitting; bulbs which have finished flowering indoors can be planted straight from their containers into the garden.
